The WPA DUPR California State Championships Pickleball Tournament will be held on Friday October 18th through Sunday October 20th, 2024 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA.

With early10 discount:
Senior Divisions: $45
All ages Divisions: $65

*There is a discount for entering multiple divisions!* You will need to checkout a second time for the discounted division.

Divisions are up to the DUPR rating. (e.g. Mens Doubles 3.0 are ratings BELOW 3.0, Mens Doubles 3.5 are ratings BELOW 3.5)

Open Senior Mens and Womens Doubles (AGE 55+, 60+, 65+)

SATURDAY (Starting from 9am)
Mens and Womens Doubles (Beginner 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, Open for PRIZEMONEY)

SUNDAY (Doubles Starting from 9am, singles starting from 1pm-2pm)

– Expect each tournament day to start at 9am and complete in the afternoon
– The division times are subject to change based on participant registration
– Participants will be emailed their division start time after the registration close date has passed

All events are set-partner or single player Round Robin (play every team), ensuring plenty of Pickleball with Medal rounds for Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
Divisions that have 4 or fewer teams will play a double round robin (play every team twice)

Guaranteed MINIMAL WAITING TIME between matches
For every 2 DOUBLES PAIRS 1 COURT IS ALLOCATED = APPROX 3 HOURS to 4 Hours PER EVENT, including finals

Prior to the tournament please complete the following:
Results will be uploaded to DUPR. Please join the “World Pickleball Association” club on DUPR prior to the tournament.
1. Log in/Create a DUPR account https://dashboard.dupr.com/login
2. Verify your account through your email
3. Click “Play” (on the left if on a Mac/PC or on the bottom right if on a mobile device)
4. Search “World Pickleball Association”. Make sure the logo matches and the location says Los Angeles.
5. Click Join Club
6. WPA will approve your request

Please download the Swish Sports app, create an account, and link your DUPR ID to your Swish profile before the tournament. The Swish Sports App is where you will see who you are playing against, what court you are on, and where you will enter/verify your scores for each match. This will ensure a speedy upload to DUPR!

Rules

1. Divisions are DUPR ratings
- your team’s DUPR rating average will be calculated. If your average is higher than the division, you will be placed in the appropriate division.
- If you have never played in a DUPR rated event or do not have a rating, you can self rate yourself and enter the division(s) you see best fit you!
- Non-rated-2.99: Beginner
- 3.0-3.49: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate
- 3.5-3.99: Intermediate
- 4.0+: Advanced
Any players rated above 4.0 will have to enter an “OPEN” division for seniors or prize money.
2. For age-related divisions, the participant must fall within the division age by Dec. 31st, 2024
3. The ball used is a Franklin X40 Yellow ball. Please DO NOT wear yellow clothing similar to the color of the ball
4. Game scoring
- Games are first to 11 points; win by 2 points
- Switch ends when the first team gets to 6 points
- singles are rally scoring
5. Time-Outs
- 1 minute break is allotted when switching ends
- Each team is allotted one 1-minute time out per match if they choose to take it
6. Inputting Scores
- The players will input their match scores into Swish. Only one person needs to enter the score.
- You will then verify the score is correct on Swish
- One person from every game will bring a score card back to the check-in table. The score card should include Division, Date, All players First initial and last name, and score.
7. Medal Match Scoring
- Gold and Bronze medal matches are first to 15 points; win by 2 points
- Medal matches are dependent upon time availability and participant registrations
- 1st and 2nd place from every division will play for Gold/Silver
- 3rd and 4th place from every division will play for Bronze
- If there are only 3 people in your division 1st place will go straight to the Gold medal match. 2nd and 3rd place will go to a semi-final. The winner of the semi-final will play 1st place for Gold. The loser of the semi-final will be awarded a Bronze medal.

Rally Scoring for Singles
- First to 11 points, win by 2 points
- Points earned whether serving or receiving
- The player who wins a rally serves the next point. When the server's score is even, they serve from the right side of the court, and when their score is odd, they serve from the left.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

Refunds are available for:
- Events that do not proceed due to insufficient numbers
- Medical reasons with a doctor's certificate
- Any withdrawal up 7 days before the start of the tournament weekend will choose to receive a full refund or credit to another World Pickleball Association event
- Any withdrawal up to 3 days before the start of the tournament weekend will receive full credit to another World Pickleball Association event
- There are no refunds due to weather delays or match delays. However, a credit would be considered for another WPA event

If you are registered for an event that does not have enough participants, a WPA tournament director will reach out to you. You will be offered a full refund, credit towards another WPA event, or the option to enter a higher division and try your best.

Any Refunds/Credits are subject to a $5 Admin fee (includes Swish Fee and Stripe Fee)
