Description

This tournament has 2 formats of play. Individual rotating partner round robin and Mixed Doubles round robin.
There are 4 divisions for the tournament, recreational, intermediate, advanced, and competitive advanced. Each division will have 3 events, men's rotating partner round robin, women's rotating partner round robin, and mixed doubles.
For Rotating round robin you register by yourself and will be playing with and against players in your own event. For mixed doubles each team must have one woman and one man. You register as a team and play a round robin against other teams in your event.
The minimum amount of participants for an event to take place is 5. The maximum is 15. With 7 or more participants in an event there will be a semi-final of 5 participants followed by a final of 4 participants. For events with less that 7 participants there will not be a semi-final.
For events of more than 7 participants, participants will be randomly assigned to pools to play against others in their pool for that event.
Currently recreational divisions start playing on Friday Dec 6. Intermediate and Advanced round robin rotating partner play is on Saturday Dec 7, and Mixed doubles play is on Sunday the 8th
Pat attention to messages on the app for start times and any changes. Be prepared to start your games 15 minutes before the listed time. Two minute warm ups will be allowed before play commences.
For score keeping and tracking the SWISH will be used. The app can be found on google play and the apple store. Down load it to your phone. There are instructional videos about the app linked to the app or can be searched for on You Tube. Type SWISH in the search window.
You will need to scan a QR code with the camera on your phone when you check in for your event. You will also receive an email with a link to join a tournament messaging group once you are registered.
Volunteers are needed to monitor the courts to ensure games start as scheduled and to help enter scores on the app. Training will be provided if needed.
Balls used in this tournament will be the Penn red indoor balls we have at Tech. If you want to use a different ball there are conditions. Contact the tournament director.
A wait list will be kept for each event in case of drop outs.
At registration check out a $5 SWISH administration fee will be added. It is non-refundable.
Prizes will be available if enough registrations happen.

Rules

Be prepared to start your games 15 minutes before the scheduled time in case previous games finish early. Do not come into the gym until you receive a message to do so. Upon early arrival please go up to the bleachers to wait. You can use the change rooms will play is in progress but once changed please go upstairs to wait.
Rotating Partner Round Robin Play
Rotating partner round robin games will be scored to 11 points win by one point. Players advancement will be determined by points differential as calculated by the SWISH app. The formula used is Points for minus Points against divided by the amount of games played. In the case of pool play the top player from each pool will advance to the semi - final and the rest of the semi - final pool will be made up by the next best points ratio's in the event. It is possible for 2 or 3 players from the same pool to advance.
The semi-finals will be a round robin scored to 11 points, win by 2, to a maximum of 15 points. The four best ratios move on to the finals.
The finals will be scored to 15 points win by 2 to a maximum of 17 points. The winner will be determined by the best points ratio.

Points Ratio Tie Breaker - 1. most wins. 2. most points for 3. fewest points against. 4. Singles play, rally scoring, play to 7 points.

Mixed Doubles
Mixed doubles round robin games will be scored to 11, win by one. Advancement will be determined by the most amount of wins. The semi - final will games will be scored to 11 win by 2 maximum of 15 points. Final games will be scored to 15 win by 2 maximum of 17 points.
The tie breaker formula is - 1. head to head 2. Best points ratio 3. Most points for 4. Fewest points against. 5. Singles play, rally scoring to 9 points, scores frozen at 8 and 7 points. Players from both teams switch out every 3 points scored.

The scoring for the tournament may be changed by the tournament director at any time for any reason.

Currently there are not any officials for any games. For disputes contact the tournament director. USPA rules will be used for this tournament.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

There are no refunds once the tournament has started. Anyone that has dropped out before the tournament has started will only receive the $10 tournament fee. The $5 SWISH fee is non-refundable.
