Description
40 by 30 Champions Team Pickleball is the premier SoCal team competition where teams of four players (2 women and 2 men) compete against each other just like the pros in Major League Pickleball. This is the amateur experience with the same thrilling twists on traditional match-ups and scoring for games, matches, and singles-tiebreakers.
MLP Style Format
Teams compete against each other in Matches. A Match consists of four games, starting with one women’s doubles game, then one men’s doubles game, and then two mixed doubles games. If two teams are tied after these four games, an innovative tiebreaker (to 21) is played, with a rotational system involving all four players. Teams first play each other in group or round-robin play, and then the top teams square off in a single-elimination format.
Format Structure
4 Teams - Double round robin- No play-off top 3 teams metal.
5 Teams - Single round robin- with play-off- Top 2 play for 1 and 2nd, others play for 3rd & 4th. 5th place team goes home.
6 Teams - Single round robin- No play-off top 3 teams metal.
7 Teams- No 7 Team events we will push for 8 teams or drop the last complete team in to create a 6 team bracket.
8 Teams are divided into 2 pools of four teams- the top two teams from each pool advance to the semi-finals and play in a single elimination round to the finals. This is the ideal bracket for this format.
12 teams are divided into three pools of four teams—the top two teams from each pool advance to an elimination bracket (6 teams). The best two teams will have a bye into the semifinals. Quarter-final rounds are played in a single elimination round.

How to Create a Team:
DUPR Rating System: Use only one number after the decimal when calculating team/ player ratings (i.e, 4.567 = 4.5).
Team Aggregates:
DUPR 14 and 14 50+: Max team rating = 14.5 (max individual rating = 4.2)
DUPR 16 and 16 50+: Max team rating = 16.5 (max individual rating = 4.6)
DUPR 18: Max team rating = 18.5 (max individual rating = 5.2)
DUPR 20-22 Combined Open: Max team rating = 18.60 - 22.90 (open division) NO DUPR Reporting

To sign up, a DUPR account is required at the time of registration. Non-rated players can play, however, their estimated rating will be verified by the tournament director, All players must join the 40by30 Champions club on DUPR Please click Join the club now.
Player Registration:
PLAYERS USE NAME AS LISTED ON YOUR DUPR ACCOUNT- Teams are not confirmed until all 4 players are paid in full- Captains may sign up the team- The first team on the waitlist, is next in!
When adding your DUPR to registration only use 1 decimal point. I.e 4.6, 3.4. No need to use 4.677 or 3.452
Cancellation/Refund Policy
Cancellation Deadline: To receive a refund less $8, cancellation must be received by the end of the day on April 17th.
Substitute Players: A team that needs a player substitute must submit the substitute to the tournament director. The substitute player’s DUPR may not cause the established team’s aggregate to go over the max event’s aggregate.
Single Registrations: If you want to play in the Team event but cannot form a team, the tournament director will do their best to place you on a team. For players that are not placed, thus not playing the event, their registration fees will be refunded less $8.
