Description
Pickleball at the Beach is a fundraiser to support the Long Beach State Women's Basketball program in collaboration with Long Beach Police and Fire Departments, Rock'n Blues Entertainment, Swish, 562 Pickleball and other community organizations.

Cal State University, Long Beach: Rhodes Tennis Courts.

Nearest cross streets are Atherton and Palo Verde Avenue.
REGISTRATION/PAYMENT:
1st Event: $100
Additional Events: $25 for each additional event.
Play multiple events for a chance to win more medals.
MEDALS & GIVEAWAY:
Winners will be awarded custom 3.5 inch “Beach Pickleball” medals. Players who register by June 1st will receive a custom “Beach Pickleball” visor. After June 1st, visors will be available for sale.
TOURNAMENT DIVISIONS & DAYS:
Saturday Tournaments:
Team Pickleball: 3 Person Team (Women’s, Men’s, 55+)
Singles (Women’s, Men’s, 55+)
Round Robin: Rotating Partners (Women’s, Men’s, 55+)
Special Event: Police and Fire Open Division - Round Robin Rotating Partners
Sunday Tournaments:
Doubles (Women’s, Men’s, Mixed, 55+)
* Competition start time: TBD. Players will be notified a week before the tournament date.

3 Person Team Pickleball:
Requires three players in a team (Player A, B and C). In this format, teams identify their Player A, B, and C. First Match will be player A/B vs. player A/B of the opposing team. Second match will be player B/C vs. player B/C of the opposing team. Third match will be player A/C vs. Player A/C of the opposing team. All games will be played to 15 points, win by one. Teams switch at 8 points. There is no tie breaker match played in this format.
Playoff/Finals: Top teams will advance to medal matches. In the case of a tie between teams at the conclusion of the round-robin, the following will be used to determine who moves on to the medal matches. Wins first, total points second, then head-to-head. Medals are awarded to 1st and 2nd place winners only.
Team Divisions: Please utilize your DUPR, UTR-P, Self-Rating, and other rating systems to select the appropriate division for your team to help ensure games are fair and competitive. Please no “Sandbagging.”
TEAM DIVISIONS:
- Beginner (9.5 and under) - The team’s aggregate rating must not exceed 9.5.
- Intermediate (10.5 and under) - The team’s aggregate rating must not exceed 10.5.
- Advanced (12.5 and under) - The team’s aggregate rating must not exceed 12.5.

Police and Fire Open Division (Round Robin Rotating Partners):
This a special tournament event for Police and Fire employees. Open to all skill levels and gender. Medals will be awarded to top male and female players.

Round Robin Rotating Partners:
Don’t have a partner? No problem. Register as an individual. You will have a different partner each round. Top 3 players will be awarded medals.

High School and Under (Round Robin):
This division is for High Students and under. Students will rotate partners each round. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 players.

ADDITIONAL TOURNAMENT DETAILS:
Rating: This is a non-DUPR event. Scores will not be reported to DUPR.
Surface: Games will be played outdoors on tennis courts. Franklin X40 and Selkirk Pro S1 will be available for use.
Snacks/Food/Water: Will be available and provided throughout the tournament. Please plan for your own lunch if needed.
Tournament Bracket/Pool Play/Schedule: We will email all players the week before the tournament with competition schedules.
Waivers: Every registered player must have completed a waiver form.
PARKING: Pay to Park: G13 & G14 Parking lot and Structure. $15 daily.
Free street parking along Palo Verde Avenue. Please be aware of the time limit when parking in the residential areas.
Rules
Please be aware that the tournament schedule is subject to change due to unforeseen
circumstances, including but not limited to longer match play, weather conditions, or other
operational considerations. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we strive to
ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all participants. Any updates to the schedule will be
communicated promptly.
The Tournament Director may combine divisions if there are not enough participants or for scheduling purposes. This decision will be made to ensure a smooth and fair competition for all players. Any changes will be communicated in advance.
