Rules
Tournament Format & Rules (USA Pickleball)
This tournament will follow USA Pickleball Official Rules, unless otherwise noted. All matches will be played in a round robin format with same partners throughout the event. Divisions include Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, with skill levels ranging from 2.5 to 4.0. Players are responsible for registering at the appropriate skill level. Tournament officials reserve the right to adjust divisions or move teams as needed to ensure fair and competitive play.
Matches will be played to 11 points, win by one. Standard side-out scoring will be used unless rally scoring is implemented to keep the tournament on schedule, which will be announced prior to play. Final standings will be determined by total matches won, followed by head-to-head results, point differential, and a coin toss if necessary.
All serving must comply with USA Pickleball rules, including underhand serves with paddle contact below the navel and at least one foot behind the baseline at contact. Proper service order must be maintained throughout each match. The non-volley zone (kitchen) rules will be strictly enforced, including faults for volleying while in or touching the kitchen line or stepping into the kitchen due to momentum after a volley.
Players are responsible for making line calls on their own side of the court. If there is any doubt, the ball should be called in. Good sportsmanship is expected at all times, and unsportsmanlike conduct may result in warnings or match forfeiture at the discretion of tournament officials.
Teams must be ready to play when called. Matches may be timed if necessary to keep play moving. Any team not present within five (5) minutes of their scheduled match time may forfeit that match. Only USA Pickleball–approved paddles may be used, and the tournament ball will be designated by event staff. Proper athletic footwear is required.
All scores must be submitted through SWISH immediately following each match. Once a score is submitted, it is considered final. Tournament officials’ decisions are final in all matters, including disputes, scoring, scheduling, or rule interpretations. This is an outdoor event and weather-dependent; the tournament director reserves the right to modify the schedule, format, or scoring due to weather or time constraints.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
All registrations for the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Foundation Pickleball Tournament are final. As this is a charitable fundraising event, no refunds will be issued for any reason, including cancellations, scheduling conflicts, injury, illness, or failure to attend.
Players or teams who do not appear for their scheduled match on the day of the tournament will be considered a no-show, and the match will be forfeited. All entry fees for no-shows will be retained by the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Foundation and treated as a donation to support the Foundation’s mission.
In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, tournament officials reserve the right to modify the schedule, format, or scoring as needed. No refunds will be issued for weather-related delays or format adjustments.
