Description

Join us in celebrating the life of our dear friend, Mike Beale, who passed away on April 10th, 2024. Mike was an avid pickleball player, surfer, golfer, and star of the sports radio segment “Beachin’ with Beale” on the Varsity Sports radio show. In his honor, we’re hosting a charity pickleball tournament, with all proceeds sponsoring an OCC broadcast journalism student’s internship for a full school year, reflecting Mike’s passion for education.

Theme: Topspin Tacos & Tides (Cinco de Mayo meets a Baja surf trip)
Time: 10:00AM to 3:00PM (Men's & Women's start at 10AM, Mixed starts at 12:30PM)

Join us for a day of fun, competition, and community! Enjoy pickleball, music, food, beverages, and surprises while supporting a great cause. Invite your friends and family to watch and participate in the festivities.

About the Charity

One well-deserving OCC (Orange Coast College) Broadcast Journalism Student will be chosen to receive a year-long paid internship with the Varsity Sports Show. All proceeds from this event will sponsor this internship.

We're planning to have 8 divisions of 4 teams each, but this is subject to change based on the entries we receive. We'll make sure every team gets to play at least 6 games.

To expedite check-in, please print, fill out, and sign the waiver and bring it with you.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

Fees: $25 entry fee + $5 technology fee (non-refundable)/per player, per event

Cancellation Deadline: Refunds minus the $5 fee available until 5 PM on July 5th, 2025
