We have a great tournament planned for you and are excited to welcome you to the first team pickleball tournament at the Royal Court Pickleball Club in Herriman, Utah. Our staff is excited to ensure you have a great tournament experience, so please do not hesitate to let us know how we can help in any way.

Tournament Format
Teams have been divided into FOUR divisions (3.5, 4.0, 4.5 & 5.0) – Each division will have up to 10 teams and - based on the average DUPR (or estimated DUPR) of the top three players on the team. Teams can consist of 4 to 8 players of either gender. Players must be on your roster at least 2 days before the start of the tournament. Scores/Results will NOT be reported to DUPR for this event. It is possible for players to play in two different divisions as long as it is on different tournament dates and their team average DUPR fits within the limits.

Rules

Divisional Play. Each team will compete in a possible total of nine divisional rounds over the 24 hours of play (you will play every team in your division). In Divisional Play, you must play all three matches in the Team Round, as you will earn points not just based on head-to-head wins, but also games within the match. Please note in divisions with an odd number of teams that each team will have an “idle” round.

Prior to the round starting a coin toss (select a number of fingers behind the paddle) will be done to determine the home team. The home team can decide 1 of four options. 1) to declare player positions first or second, each team will “declare” their three players in the round. 2) Serve/Receive. 3) Side to start. 4) Defer to the visiting team.
Serving team will serve first and third game in match 1 and 3. Receiving team will serve first and third in Match 2.

The round will consist of three doubles matches (AB vs. XY, BC vs. YZ, then AC vs. XZ), with all matches best two-of-three to 11 points (win by 2) no cap.

Teams will earn 1 point for each game win and 1 point for each match win and 1 point for the round win. Here is an example:
Team 1 (A, B, C) Team 2 (X, Y, Z)
AB (2 wins) XY (1  win) Team 1 gets 3 points, Team 2 gets 1 point
BC (1 win) YZ (2 wins) Team 1 gets 1 point, Team 2 gets 3 points
AC (2 wins) XZ (0  wins) Team 1 gets 3 points, Team 2 gets 0 points
Team 1 wins the round – 1 additional point
Team 1 earns 8 points (3 from match one + 1 from match two + 3 from match 3 +1 for winning the round); Team 2 earns 4 points (1 from match one + 3 from match two + 0 from match 3)

Points are earned by number of games won (best 2 of 3), number of matches won (play all three matches) and the overall winner of that round (win at least 2 of the matches).
Winning team each round will earn 7 to 10 points. Losing team each round will earn 0 to 5 points.

Division 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 will play with Crown Balls. Division 5.0 will play with Vulcan Vpro Balls.

Championship Rounds. At the end of all rounds, the four teams in your division with the most points will playoff in the championship rounds on Saturday afternoon/evening. Championship rounds (Semi-final and Finals) will be best-of-three matches. If one team wins the first two matches the third match will not be played.
One 1 minute time outs per game. If a game three is played teams will switch sides at 6 with a 2 minute timeout granted. Play can begin early if both teams are ready to continue the game before the time out is complete.
USAPA rules and USAPA-approved paddles.
Tournament staff is allowed to remove any paddle they deem altered or illegal in any way.
