Description
At Home By High and Friends of Goodale Park present the first-ever Goodale Park Pickleball Tournament! Join us for a day of pickleball, music, coffee, fall treats, fun and more — all for a good cause.
Earlier this year, 3 beautiful pickleball courts were opened to the public thanks to the hard-working folks of Friends of Goodale Park (and many others). This tournament will be the first of its kind held at the courts, and will serve as a fundraiser for At Home By High, a nonprofit that has been supporting older adults (ages 50+) in the Short North and surrounding areas since 2017.
At Home By High provides all sorts of critical services to their 80+ members, including transportation to doctor's appointments, grocery delivery, technology assistance, and lawn and pet care. They also organize weekly and monthly social events, ranging from walking groups and fishing trips to out-of-town excursions. (A recent trip to the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton was a member favorite!)
At Home By High's work allows our neighbors to age gracefully in the community and homes they love. Supporting this tournament supports that mission.
Rules
Each team (consisting of two players) will play 5 games in a round robin format, back-to-back. After every team has played one another, the two teams with the best records will compete in a medal match. Both teams will receive medals (for first and second place).
Teams will compete within one of 3 skill divisions (Casual, Beginner, Intermediate/ Advanced). Please make sure you sign up for the correct skill level according to your team members' personal details.
Players should expect each division to take ~1-1.5 hours to complete. The Casual 49 & under division will go first, with play beginning at 10:00am ET on Sunday, October 12th. 15 minutes of downtime will be allotted between divisions for warm-up, snacking, etc. This means the Beginner and Intermediate/ Advanced 49 & under divisions will begin at approximately 11:45am ET and 1:30pmpm ET, respectively. Please plan arrival times accordingly.
The pickleball courts are located in the middle of Goodale Park. Parking is free, and the closest lot is next to the Shelter House. The courts are visible from this lot.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
We will play rain or shine. Contact At Home By High board member Ellyn Briggs with any additional questions. Thank you for supporting an organization working to better our community. See you on the courts!
