● Promote level-based play for fair competition.
● Encourage broader participation in the sport by accommodating both coed and gender-specific divisions.
Player and Organizer Pledges
Player Pledge: Emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
Organizer Pledge: Deliver a seamless and well-structured event while fostering community and inclusivity
Rules
Eligibility Requirements:
Coed Teams: A coed school must put teams in the coed division unless they do not have enough males or females to make up a team. In this case, they can have teams compete in the three-person gender format.
Example: If a school has enough players to fill one coed team but has 20 more boys after the team is filled, they can then have those boys compete in the gender format.
Team Registration: Schools can register as many teams as they can field in both coed and gender divisions. Players are not allowed to compete in both coed and gender team formats, but they can participate in a team format and singles competition.
Player Eligibility:
Players must meet age and school attendance requirements to participate in the High School Nationals. Players must also be from the same school in order to compete in the team format.
All players must have a valid DUPR account before competing.
Gameplay Format
MLPlay Format: MLPlay format is an innovative team competition where teams compete against each other in an engaging format, with twists on traditional match-ups and scoring for games, matches, and tiebreakers.
Teams compete against each other in Matches using the MLPlay™ format:
● 4-Person Team Format (Coed Divisions):
○ MLPlay™ is an innovative gameplay format that brings men and women together on a level playing court.
○ In the MLPlay™ format, team matches are composed of four 21-point games:
1. Women’s Doubles
2. Men’s Doubles
3. Mixed Doubles
4. Mixed Doubles
○ Tiebreaker: If both teams are tied at 2-2 after the 4 games are played, they’ll go to a Dreambreaker™!
1. In a Dreambreaker™, one person from each team plays singles against the other team’s player, switching players every four rallies until someone gets to 21 and wins by two points.
● 3-Person Team Format (Gender-Specific Divisions):
○ Teams of three players compete in a best-of-three games format.
○ Matches consist of:
1. Doubles
2. Doubles (rotating one player)
3. Doubles (rotating one player)
○ No Dreambreaker™ is used in this format; the team winning two out of three games secures the match victory.
