Description
Winners of the league get to sign up for the next league at Bay Club Broadway for free! (This assumes a full league division of 6 teams.)
Don't have a partner and want to get on a list to find one? Fill out this form: https://forms.gle/SewTeAF656BFPg1T6
If you're looking for a partner, email the TD, and she'll give you access to a list of people looking for partners.
As registration will be team based, the higher DUPR rating between the two team members will be used to determine the eligible skill bracket. This higher DUPR rating cannot be higher than 0.25 of the skill bracket being entered. TD has discretion to move a team to a different division in order to keep the play competitive based on teams that have signed up.
Championship matches for this league will be the week of June 2nd. The top four teams in the division will meet to play. Semi-finals and finals are all best of 3, games to 11, win by 2. Medals will be awarded to the top three teams. First place team wins the league credit!
Rules
Non-members participating in the league can arrive up to 2 hours early to the Bay Club on the day of the league match to warm up. Bay Club Broadway has open play from 5pm-9pm.
You will play each team in the division once during the regular league season. When you play a match against a team, it is best of 3, games to 11, win by 2. All matchups and scores will be in Swish. These will be DUPR rated matches. During regular season play, teams will check in at the front desk to collect a ball tray that will contain a Franklin x-40 ball for their match. After their match, please return the ball tray to the front desk and enter the scores for the match into Swish.
To start a match, follow standard conventions to determine who gets to call serve or side. Teams switch sides at 6 points. Some suggestions:
Toss a coin and have someone on the other team call it.
Hold up one or two fingers behind your back and have one of your opponents behind you to see while the other opponent calls the number in front of you.
Line calls are made by the team who is on the side that the ball lands on. If the two members of the team cannot agree on whether a ball was in/out, then the ball is considered in. If there is truly a disagreement over a line call, just replay the point.
One timeout is allowed per team per game. Each timeout should last no longer than 1 minute. As needed, medical timeouts can be taken.
Team seeding for play-offs will be determined by 1) matches won, 2) head to head, 3) point differential.
If a substitute is required, the TD needs to approve of the sub. The sub must have a DUPR account and a rating that is at least 60% reliable. The sub's DUPR must be no more than .25 higher than the person they are replacing but can be lower by any amount. Please inform the TD at least 24 hours in advance. The sub needs to agree that the match will be reported to DUPR, and they need to join the Bay Club Broadway club on DUPR.
