Description
This is a 6 week league (no play for Spring Break on Apr 5). Teams will be assigned to play at either the Sandy or the Orem Club Pickleball facility. We play for 3 weeks and then will seed everyone and play again for another 3 weeks. After that, we will play the State Tournament. Bottom 16 teams will play the Division II Tournament on April 19, and top 16 teams will play the Division I Tournament on April 26.
The following week, we will host Individual State Tournaments on May 1-3, where schools will select their top boys doubles, girls doubles, mixed doubles, boys singles, and girls singles to represent their school.
Each team can order up to 9 shirts included with the registration price. You will have 6 starters on your team (3 males and 3 females) You may also order an additional male and female shirt for subs to rotate in, and a shirt for an adult coach. If you have large numbers of players at your school, you can choose different youth to play each week. You may also choose to purchase additional shirts, but this needs to be done at the same time that shirts are ordered so that they get here in time.
To order the shirts for your team, please fill out this google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf0qxgs25eFrs8e63QV8L9sh_0-4TZrx6-8Y05jfp88LEv1Hw/viewform
Rules
We will be playing with the Vulcan ball.
During the 6 weeks of meets, each match will consist of a boys match, a girls match, and a mixed match, played simultaneously. Each of these 3 matches will consist of a 2 games out of 3 match, MLP rally scoring, games to 21, win by 2. Teams will switch sides at 11, and the winning team must win on its serve. For one school to beat another, it would need to win at least 2 out of the 3 match ups.
For Championships, schools will be seeded into a single elimination bracket, regular scoring, best 2 out of 3 to 11.
We will have roaming USAPA referees at both of our locations for the meets.
All State Team and Individual Championship Matches will be refereed.
No coaching during play (only on time outs).
One, 1 minute time out per team per game.
Only players on court make line calls (Roaming referees and referees on court can help with line calls at any time).
Sub rules:
Each team can bring one extra male and one extra female each week. They will be the designated subs for the week. Because scores are entered into DUPR, subs are not allowed to sub in and out of games randomly. Subs are only allowed to play full games. In the case of an injury, the team who was injured will keep the score they had at the time of the injury, and the other team will score 21, rather than forfeiting the whole game. A sub may then start for the next game in that round.
Players who started are NOT allowed to move to another division during the same round. For example, a player who competed in boys doubles and finished his best two out of three quickly, may not sub in for his school in mixed doubles that round. When playing the next match against another school on the same day, players can choose to switch to a different event, but can only play in one event, per round, per evening. This allows more team members to participate and encourages unity within the team.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
Schools can cancel and get a full refund before 2/10/2025.
Schools who are more than 15 minutes late to a meet/tournament game will forfeit their match.
Schools/advisors/parents agree that by signing up they are agreeing that their students are allowed to participate and that neither UHSPA nor any of the facilities where the matches will be played will be held liable for any injuries that may occur while playing. They also give permission for photographs and videos to be taken of students while playing and may be used on social media and promotions for UHSPA and partners.
